iMATUS, the vanguard of science at the service of Galician heritage: authenticating Compostela jet

iMATUS researchers put their knowledge and technology at the service of the goldsmith tradition, guaranteeing the authenticity of jet and contributing to the economic development of Galicia.

In a new milestone that demonstrates iMATUS’ commitment to Galician society, our institute will collaborate with Ourives de Compostela to guarantee the authenticity of the jet used in the production of Santiago de Compostela goldsmith pieces. This project, which is part of Ourivería’s Strategic Plan, underlines iMATUS’ scientific and technological capacity to respond to social challenges and contribute to the economic development of our community.

Thanks to iMATUS’ experience, control systems will be developed that will allow the purity of jet to be certified and, therefore, guarantee the authenticity of goldsmith pieces. This initiative will not only protect the cultural heritage of Santiago de Compostela, but will also strengthen consumer confidence and the prestige of local artisans.

Why iMATUS?

The choice of iMATUS to lead this project is due to our solid track record in research and development of materials, as well as our ability to adapt technology to the specific needs of each sector. iMATUS researchers are highly motivated to put their knowledge at the service of society and contribute to the preservation of Galician cultural heritage.

This project is a clear example of how science and technology can work together to boost the economic and social development of Galicia. By guaranteeing the authenticity of jet, a seal of quality is being created that will allow Compostela goldsmith products to compete in national and international markets.

Beyond authentication

In addition to guaranteeing the authenticity of jet, this project also includes the restoration of historical pieces. iMATUS will collaborate in these tasks, contributing its knowledge of materials and analysis techniques.

A commitment to Galicia

At iMATUS we are convinced that research must be at the service of society. This project is another example of our commitment to Galicia and to the development of innovative solutions to the challenges of our time.
