Professor Maite Flores Arias, a researcher at iMATUS, has been elected the new president of the Spanish Optical Society (SEDOPTICA).
She succeeds Luis Plaja Rustein and will lead the organization for the next three years.

Professor’s Career and Notable Achievements:
- Professor of Optics at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC).
- Leading researcher at iMATUS, where she coordinates the L2A2 infrastructure (Laser Laboratory for Acceleration and Other Applications).
- International Recognition: Appointed an EOS Fellow 2025 by the European Optical Society.
- Previous Experience: She has served as vice president of SEDOPTICA and secretary of the European Optical Society.
Objectives of the new phase:
