Sanmartín Matalobos and Sendón García to lead Chemistry and Pharmacy at USC

iMATUS researchers Jesús Sanmartín Matalobos and Raquel Sendón García have been appointed Deans of the Faculties of Chemistry and Pharmacy, respectively.
Jesús Sanmartín Matalobos, Professor of Inorganic Chemistry, has been re-elected Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry following the elections held on April 16th. In this new term, his project is built around three main pillars: infrastructure improvement, optimization of administrative management, and the strengthening of degree programs. Key objectives include the renovation and modernization of the faculty, improving procedures to increase organizational efficiency, and ensuring the continued excellence of the academic offer.

On the other hand, Raquel Sendón García, Professor of Nutrition and Bromatology, has been elected Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for the next six years. Her proposal focuses on the continuous improvement of academic quality and adaptation to the new challenges of the university and professional environment. Her main lines of action include updating the Pharmacy Degree curriculum, strengthening teaching coordination, promoting academic mobility, and improving the faculty’s infrastructure.

Both researchers have distinguished careers. Sanmartín Matalobos has developed his work in areas such as coordination chemistry, molecular magnetism, and supramolecular chemistry. Sendón García has focused her research on food contact materials and sustainability, combining solid scientific production with knowledge transfer and corporate collaboration.

With these appointments, the USC strengthens its academic structure in two of its key centers, placing profiles with extensive teaching, research, and management experience at the helm.
